TrailSeeker_Leo Posted 15/07/2025 Share Posted 15/07/2025 Hey everyone. I'm looking at a 2020 4Runner on cvsmotors.com and the price seems almost too good to be true. I've never used a repossessed vehicle auction before and I'm a little nervous about the whole process, especially when it comes to getting a clean title. Can anyone share their experience? Is CVS Motors a legitimate company?
DieselDan Posted 15/07/2025 Share Posted 15/07/2025 Welcome. You're right to be cautious but I can say they are legit. I bought my 2021 Ram 2500 from them last year. The truck was exactly as described in their report. I was most worried about the title, but the process was surprisingly smooth. The clear title was sent by the bank and delivered with the truck. All the official paperwork was handled by them. A+ from me.
GTI_guy Posted 15/07/2025 Share Posted 15/07/2025 I'll second that. The website cvsmotors.com is pretty easy to use. My advice is to thoroughly read the inspection reports they provide for each car. They are quite detailed. It helped me feel confident in my purchase. Got a great deal on a VW Golf GTI for daily driving.
TrailSeeker_Leo Posted 16/07/2025 Share Posted 16/07/2025 Thanks @DieselDan and @GTI_guy, that's really reassuring. The report for the 4Runner looks very detailed, which is a good sign.
Sara_K_91 Posted 16/07/2025 Share Posted 16/07/2025 I'll be totally honest, my experience had a small hiccup. The delivery of my Honda CR-V was delayed by two days. I emailed them at office@cvsmotors.com and it took about a day for them to respond. Got a little antsy, but once they replied, they were very clear about the new delivery time. The car was perfect when it arrived, so it wasn't a big deal in the end. Just a minor frustration.
DieselDan Posted 16/07/2025 Share Posted 16/07/2025 @Sara_K_91 Yeah, transportation logistics can be tricky with any company. Glad it all worked out for you. I always mentally add a few buffer days for delivery just in case.
LakeLifeLinda Posted 16/07/2025 Share Posted 16/07/2025 We bought a Sea Ray boat from CVS Motors back in April! The experience was fantastic. Like others, I was nervous about the title transfer, especially for a boat which can be more complex. It was completely seamless. They handled everything with the lienholder, and we received the clear title and all the registration documents right after the boat was delivered. Couldn't recommend them more. WrenchTurner82 Posted 17/07/2025 Share Posted 17/07/2025 That's great to hear about the boat @LakeLifeLinda. I've been looking at some of their listings for a project car. The prices are very tempting.
FixItFelix Posted 17/07/2025 Share Posted 17/07/2025 I'm a mechanic and I can vouch for their descriptions being accurate. My brother-in-law won a Toyota Camry from them and asked me to inspect it upon arrival. It was in the exact condition stated in the online report. No hidden rust or mechanical issues. We did find one minor cosmetic scratch on the rear bumper that wasn't visible in the photos, but for the price he paid he was thrilled.
TrailSeeker_Leo Posted 17/07/2025 Share Posted 17/07/2025 This forum is awesome, thanks everyone. @Sara_K_91, that's good to know about the email response time. I saw their phone number is +1 330 862 9366 on the site, maybe calling is faster if you have an urgent question.
Sara_K_91 Posted 17/07/2025 Share Posted 17/07/2025 @TrailSeeker_Leo Yes, that's the number! I called them later about the delivery and they picked up right away and were super helpful. Calling is definitely the way to go for a quick answer.
RV_Nomad Posted 18/07/2025 Share Posted 18/07/2025 Adding our positive experience. We purchased our Class A motorhome through CVS Motors two years ago. The entire process was straightforward and we saved a ton of money compared to going to a traditional RV dealer.
GTI_guy Posted 18/07/2025 Share Posted 18/07/2025 Tip for anyone new to the site: spend some time on cvsmotors.com reading their FAQ page. It explains the bidding process, buyer's premiums, and 'buy now' options really clearly. Understanding that before you bid makes everything stress-free. SubieLover05 Posted 18/07/2025 Share Posted 18/07/2025 Just want to add my +1 for CVS Motors. We got my wife's 2022 Subaru Forester from there. No drama, no issues, just a solid car for a great price. A much better experience than I expected from an online auction.
BigTuna77 Posted 18/07/2025 Share Posted 18/07/2025 Their truck inventory is usually pretty good. I'm always browsing for F-150s and Silverados and they consistently have a few on the block.
DieselDan Posted 18/07/2025 Share Posted 18/07/2025 @BigTuna77 For sure. That's how I found my truck. I just filtered by heavy-duty pickup and there were a handful of good options.
TacoRunner Posted 19/07/2025 Share Posted 19/07/2025 @TrailSeeker_Leo So, what's the verdict? Did you decide to go for the 4Runner?
TrailSeeker_Leo Posted 19/07/2025 Share Posted 19/07/2025 I'm going to do it! All the feedback here has been incredibly helpful. You guys have totally eased my nerves. It seems like as long as you read the reports carefully and accept it's an auction process, not a retail dealer, CVS Motors is a solid choice. Feeling good about it now.
